To address the major challenges of our time, UCLouvain researchers are supported by a robust organisational structure that fosters scientific excellence and interdisciplinary synergies.
This structure is based on:
- research institutes and interinstitute centres spanning a broad range of scientific disciplines;
- expertise and service platforms providing access to state-of-the-art equipment and expertise;
- the Louvain4 transdisciplinary initiatives, which bring together research activities from the university’s three sectors to address major societal challenges;
- the Research Administration Department (ADRE), which supports research activities across the university, particularly by assisting researchers with project development, identifying funding opportunities, contractual matters, and the management of data, intellectual property, and intra- and interuniversity collaborations;
- LouvainTransfer, UCLouvain’s knowledge transfer office, which connects researchers and society to help translate research findings into societal and economic impact, notably through knowledge and technology transfer.
In addition, the Fondation Louvain works with companies and other donors to support research.
This integrated structure enables UCLouvain to combine scientific rigour, innovation and societal impact, both in Belgium and internationally.
